Stochastic Analysis of Some Expedited Forwarding Networks

چکیده
Abstract— We consider stochastic guarantees for networks with aggregate scheduling, in particular, Expedited Forwarding (EF). Our approach is based on the assumption that a node can be abstracted by a service curve, and the input flows are regulated individually at the network ingress. Both of these assumptions are inline with the current definition of EF [1], [2]. We derive bounds to the complementary distributions of the backlog, delay through a single node, and the end-to-end delay. We also give a bound on the lossratio. Our analysis is exact under the given assumptions. Our results should help us to understand the performance of networks with aggregate scheduling, and provide the basis for dimensioning such networks. User User User User RBS Class 2 SBB Class
This paper presents a decentralized auction-based approach to pricing of edge-allocated bandwidth in a di erentiated services model for the Internet. The players in this architecture are users, one raw-capacity seller per network and one broker per service per network. With the Progressive Second Price auction mechanism as the basic building block, we conduct a game theoretic analysis, deriving...
متن کاملEnabling IP-Multicast in Differentiated Services Networks
The Differentiated Services approach is currently intensively discussed in the Internet community. It will also bring benefits for multicast applications that need quality of service support. For instance, a highly reliable multicast can be provided based on Expedited Forwarding. However, current efforts mainly concentrate on unicast services, whereas multicast services have not been addressed ...
متن کاملAssured and Expedited Forwarding Extensions for IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN
In this paper, we propose DIME (DIffServ MAC Extension), an extension of the IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol to support Differentiated Services. The proposed extension consists of two optional modules: the Expedited Forwarding (EF) and the Assured Forwarding (AF). The Expedited Forwarding extension (DIMEEF) reuses the Interframe space of the Point Coordination Function (PCF) of the IEEE 802.11 standar...
متن کاملDelay bound and packet scale rate guarantee for some expedited forwarding networks
Expedited Forwarding (EF) is a service defined under the Differentiated Services framework. Based on its recently revised definition in IETF RFC 3246, Packet Scale Rate Guarantee (PSRG) is its key construct, with which bounded nodal delay and edge-to-edge delay are provided. In this paper, we study the delay bound and PSRG for some EF networks. In these networks, each server belongs to a wide s...
متن کاملBuffer and Bandwidth Management for the Expedited Forwarding Traffic Class in Differentiated Services Networks
This paper addresses issues related to buffer and bandwidth management for the Expedited Forwarding (EF) traffic class in IP Differentiated Services (DiffServ) networks. We are concerned with edge nodes connecting a number of end-users with premium traffic contracts to the core network and we examine buffer requirements in those nodes. Our results suggest that even in the case of EF traffic cla...
